  14. Web Mechanic - http://www.webmechanic.com.au/ : Validator and lint eliminates redundant or conflicting tags and compresses image files. Pay service.
  15. Web Page Backward Compatibility Viewer - http://www.delorie.com/web/wpbcv.html : Uncheck tags to be unsupported and see how the page looks.
  16. Web Page Purifier - http://www.delorie.com/web/purify.html : Check how a webpage looks with different HTML versions.
  17. WDG HTML Validator - http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/ : A rather flexible validator with friendly, understandable error messages, support for different character encodings, and the ability to spider an entire site and test a page before you upload it to your site
  18. W3C Validator - http://validator.w3.org/ : This one is brought to you by the big boys of website coding :) Again, it lets you validate files that are either already online, or files on your computer so you can see if they're ok before you upload. They also offer validation support for XHTML 1.1, XHTML Basic 1.0, and MathML 2.0, as well as a cascading style sheet validator. Another one of the ones I use.
  19. CSSCheck - http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/csscheck/ : Either check a Cascading Style Sheet that's already uploaded or one that is still on your computer for errors.
  20. Dr. Watson - http://watson.addy.com/ : Hmm, I really have to question the validity of a website validator that considers comments to be unknown elements, and that can't tell the difference between HTML and JavaScript :-\ It's spell check will give you a pile of errors no matter what, because words like JavaScript, business names, and html terms seem to throw it! So don't panic when you see a huge list of errors. IMHO, not even worth visiting.
  21. WebTV Viewer - http://developer.msntv.com/Tools/WebTVVwr.asp : I'm not really sure if there are very many webTV users left, but in case you want to see what your site looks like for them, here a little freeware program will show you.
  22. HTML Tidy (HTML Validator) - http://tidy.sourceforge.net/ : HTML Tidy is not just a HTML validator for your web documents. It is able to correct (repair and fix) bad HTML code and give you pointers to areas where you need to change in order to make your web page accessible to people with disabilities. Source code and binaries are available for a wide variety of operating systems, including Windows 95/98/NT/2000, Mac OS, Atari, Amiga, BeOS, AIX, Linux, UnixWare, HP-UX, MSDOS, Solaris, OS/2, FreeBSD, RISC OS, MiNT (Atari) OS, etc. There is even a Java port of HTML Tidy.
  23. Tidy Online - http://cgi.w3.org/cgi-bin/tidy : This is an online version of the HTML Tidy validator that you can use to clean up your web pages if you're too lazy to download your own copy. (To get your own copy, see elsewhere on this page - listed under "HTML Tidy".)
  24. Web Page Backward Compatibility Viewer - http://www.delorie.com/web/wpbcv.html : If you need to check your web pages to see if they are compatible with browsers that lack certain features, this page checker might be useful. You actually have to specify which features you do not want on a page, like tables, images, etc. It is probably not as useful as the title of the site sounds, since if you knew which features you needed to avoid, you would not put them in a page in the first place. (It would be better if there were simple options where you could simply select the browser versions you want to check compatibility with, instead of having to specify features.)
  25. meta Tag Analyzer - http://www.scrubtheweb.com/abs/meta-check.html : Another outdated place. Meta tags, while once the king of search engine ranking are now considered by many webmasters to be just wasted bytes. But if you want to look at this one, here it is. My advice is take anything they say with a grain of salt... it down't look like they've updated for a VERY long time. Edit... hmmm, can't seem to find them in Google either... kinda makes my point about this validator being a bit useless ;-).
  26. Delorie - http://www.delorie.com/web/wpbcv.html : Enter an URL and a browser and see what your page looks like in older versions.
  27. HtmlHelp - http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/ : Enter the URL of an HTML document to validate.
  28. Bobby.WatchFire - http://bobby.watchfire.com/bobby/html/en/index.jsp : This free service will allow you to test web pages and help expose and repair barriers to accessibility and encourage compliance with existing accessibility guidelines.
